The theme for this years National Autistic Society Somerset Branch Annual General Meeting on 14 November 2013 is Family and Carers’ Rights.
Venue: Friends Meeting House, Bath Place, Taunton, TA1 4EP Map of venue
Due to interest from many families, we are looking at the rights families have to be involved in the care and support for those they care for who have an autistic spectrum condition (ASC).
At a time when resources for support are falling, the only logical approach would be families and support organisations working fully together: families need professional support and need to be valued – they are after all the carers most in contact with a person with an ASC.
Statutory and other care organisations are missing a golden opportunity to target scarce resources and improve the support given by using families as part of an integrated care approach. If you have a view on this, we’d like to hear it.
If you are considering standing as a committee member, you are very welcome to contact the Branch Officers to discuss any aspect of the roles and duties required, and obtain copies of relevant nomination papers. (Nomination form, guidance notes, candidate profile form, which allows candidates to submit a Personal Profile in support of their candidature, and their consent to stand.) Nomination papers must be sent by post or email (details on the bottom of the nominee’s acceptance form) to the Branch in time to be received by 9th November 2013.
