New partner for Autism Somerset

This month we offer a warm welcome to Michael Shepherd who joins Autism Somerset as Honorary Partnerships Consultant.

Michael is a health and social care researcher with a special interest in public health and wellbeing. He currently works for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as an Evaluation Advisor and teaches Urban Health at London Metropolitan University.  

Michael has thirty years experience in health and social policy research, with a focus on multi-agency working and public involvement. For more than fifteen years, he worked in the health service in the South West, where part of his work was to develop ways for to involve local people in health decisions.

Michael’s PhD is in social policy from Bristol University, where his research focused on the participation of citizens and service users in the health service.

Michael was involved in West Huntspill School as a governor and Chair of Governors for five years to 2003, at the time of the development of the specialist base for autistic children.
