    The National Autistic Society and four other charities claimed there was a £1.2bn funding gap in social care support for disabled people under age of 65 and urged the government to guarantee vital support to end this crisis. Read more »

    Matt Trerise, a specialist trainer who has 10 years of experience in supporting people with autism, is offering a one day course aimed at professionals and carers supporting people with autistic spectrum conditions. Read more »
  • Parent carer alliance charter
    A newly formed association of parents, carers and friends of Learning Disability people living in the county of Somerset is to take all legitimate measures to ensure that Somerset County Council or any other caring body within the county performs its Statutory and Common Law Duties to people with Learning Disabilities and their carers within Somerset.     The official launch of Compass Carers will be the 4th February 2013, where all of the service will be in place. The service will support Carers, recognising the value and contribution they make to society offering individual support to enable them to maintain their caring role whilst having a life outside of caring.   • Autism teacher vacancy in Yeovil
    Somerset County Council in partnership with Preston Academy is to open a brand new autism base in the grounds of Preston Academy, where a full-time teacher in charge of the Autism base is being sought for September 2013. Read more »
