Autism Somerset e-bulletin September 2014

Dear colleague,

This e-bulletin is an important reminder to have your say on the Somerset Autism Strategy which remains open for consultation until 12th October 2014.

We are currently waiting to hear the outcome of our application to the Autism Innovation Fund. If we are successful our website and e-bulletin service will resume in October.

Somerset Autism Strategy – Your Views Needed

Somerset Autism StrategyThe Somerset Autism Planning Group are seeking views on the Autism Strategy as it will help plan what support will be available in the future.

Somerset is committed to improving services for people with autism and so people are encouraged to complete the consultation which is available until 12th October. The Group are especially interested to hear from those who have autism, care for someone who has autism, or work to support someone who has autism.

The information collected will help to ensure the Strategy and Action Plan reflects the needs of people with autism and their parents/carers as far as possible. This strategy also indicates how agencies in Somerset will work together to improve services for people with autism in Somerset, and we would really welcome professionals views.

The consultation covers questions about the vision, priorities and the actions that need to be planned as detailed in the Strategy. We want to check are they right and is anything missing?

The consultation can be completed online at where the Strategy can also be viewed.

If you would prefer a paper copy of the strategy and consultation questions please contact Gemma Pickford-Waugh, Commissioning Officer, Children’s Commissioning, Somerset County Council, on 01823 355234 or or text “SEND AUTISM STRATEGY to [name, address, postcode]” to 07798572406.
